A Collaborative Document of the Documenting Performance Lecture - The tree outside the window and phenomenology

We talked about phenomenology and how this relates to performance documentation. Phenomenology is the study of the structures of consciousness as experienced from the first-person point of view. I talked about the tree outside the window and how each of us has a unique experience of the tree - it is experienced through both our senses (sight, smell, touch, sound etc) and through memory associations with the tree.
The point was that performance and the performance-making process is experienced differently and uniquely by each individual. How then can we document something that is experienced differently by individuals? And how do we account for the sensual experience of something? Maybe we need to include different accounts from different perspectives. Maybe we need to document in many different ways (recording, writing, photographing, drawing).
